Wikis Explained

I really enjoyed the video on how wikis operate and what they can achieve, so cool!!

The concept of wikis is just amazing and it was a light bulb moment for me, it also helped me make sense of the wikipedia that comes up when searching for subjects, people, places and anything else that you want to learn about. It has helped me realise that the wikipedia is only as good as the people entering the information, data, facts or their personal reflection about any subject.

I can see within the library system that the wiki being a good tool for committee's, conference, organising events, a wide range of applications could benefit from using the wiki concept.

So good to understand, recognise and use a wiki.

Kenilworth Library

Kenilworth Library is one of the smaller libraries which is part of the greater Sunshine Coast Regional Libraries.
This rural library has had the unique experience of being bordered by three other shire councils prior to almalgamation, and now is only bordered by Cooloola council to the north.

The Kenilworth Library is set in a natural garden setting which offers cool conditions and has a wide verdanah for people to sit and relax during the hot summer months and during wet weather. Check out the photo's at the Flickr link.

The Kenilworth Library is open from Monday to Thursday from 2 pm to 5 pm, Friday 10 am to 3 pm, Saturday 9 am to 12pm. There are three staff who work at the library, two share a five day fortnight during the mid-week days and the other staff person works Saturday.

Our library has a lovely community feel and is very welcoming to locals, tourists and wider community.
Small libraries can offer a more personal service as you get to know the reading likes of regular borrowers, especially the aged or homebound borrowers, and the different subjects that are required for students.
With our courier service arriving once a week a majority of our borrowers reserve a variety of library collections, so this enhances our overall collection.
We have seen more people from around the coast come visit our library and browse the collection and borrow some items. Having one card is so good as it allows more people to access a wide variety of libraries and collections.
When you drive out into the hinterland come and say hello to us in Kenilworth Library but remember what time we are opened.
Happy Reading to all................

Timely

This opportunity to learn more about blogs and other web based tecnology will be exciting for me.

I have a blog through wordpress that I started with my website and then created another one for personal reflection after the passing of my husband.

I look forward to learning more about the other aspects of our modern world as the e-business and what can be achieved through the web is fascinating.

I have borrowed books just lately on all the aspects that are being offered, some titles, being

Problogger by Andrew Garrett & Darren Rowse, You call the shots by Cameron Johnson where he shares his secrets on how he became a entrepreneur from a young age.

So very happy about this opportunity through State Library of Queensland......Thank You
